Homecoming

Texas State Spirit Rally

Homecoming week is finally here, which means Bobcat football and great student events! The week will kick-off on Oct. 27 with the annual spirit flag competition followed by a 4-on-4 volleyball competition on Oct. 28 located at the Rec from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Homecoming week is more than just fun events; it is about coming together as a university and community to celebrate school spirit and to showcase our Bobcat pride.

Texas State is full of long-standing traditions, some of which take place during Homecoming. The Student Association for Campus Activities (SACA) is gearing up to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Soap Box Derby. Originally started in 1967, the Soap Box Derby is one of Texas State’s longest standing traditions. Student organizations race against one another in self-made cars to win this annual event.

Homecoming festivities will also include a carnival and spirit rally on Oct. 30 located on the LBJSC Mall. This celebration will include activities, games and opportunities to win free TXST Homecoming gear! Don’t forget to cheer on your fellow Bobcats on Nov. 1 at the TXST’s Got Talent Show! You never know who the next George Strait will be.

Game day will be jam-packed with fun-filled activities. The Rec will host their annual Homecoming 5K at 8 a.m. in Sewell Park on Nov. 4. If running is not your style, don't fret, there will be plenty of tailgating fun to participate in. The Texas State Alumni Association will be hosting their annual tailgate/reception at the West Side Reserved Parking Area of Bobcat Stadium from 3 p.m.– 6 p.m.

After enjoying all that homecoming week has to offer, it will be time to support our Bobcats as they play against New Mexico State! Kickoff will take place at Bobcat Stadium at 2 p.m. The Homecoming King and Queen will then be announced during half-time, so you don’t want to miss this incredible game!

Homecoming week is one of the most exciting weeks of the semester, so make sure to participate and show your Bobcat spirit! Eat em’ up, Cats
